Need help with Juniper bonsai

Hi,

My wife bought me a bonsai tree for Christmas - a juniper. I just discovered that it should be kept outside, or in an unheated space, for the winter (according to some online articles). My question is - should I do this immediately? Or does the fact that I missed the preferred date for doing this (around Thanksgiving?) mean that I need to take different action (or no action) at this point?

I've overwintered junipers inside with my houseplants. They did fine. How did yours turn out?

I put it in the garage, then outside... I'm afraid it died... :(
