I am trying to help a community garden here get some more variety. I am from Pennsylvania so I'm not sure what would work here in zone 9. I am thinking about heuchera, brunnera, epimedium, celandine poppy and tiarella. Does anyone have any experience with these plants this far south? Thanks so much.

Look up their heat zones and yours. I think most of those you list might not do so well but with shade and a lot of moisture, you can always try. But community gardens are usually situated in full sun. Anyway, what do I know? I don't live in Florida.
Thanks Loretta. They are rated to zone 9 and the garden is shady. I was just hoping someone might have some personal experience.
I see no one answered your question on the Florida forum. On the other forum, you mentioned the garden is in Dade City. That heat zone is 10 according to these maps, links below. Heat Zone days: 151 - 180 days Over 86°F. That's a lot of heat. If you are offering free plants, what do they have to lose except if something becomes invasive. Also, will these plants be successful with a hot dormancy rather than a cold? Will they stay down if you cut them back when the temps rise? They sulk enough in NJ, let alone Florida.
