This is from a little plant boutique, and the cashier just said it was an orchid. Can anyone tell me more about this plant? Name, care, anything else relevant to keeping it alive and thriving?
Plant ID
It"s a Paphiopedilum. The dark mottled leaves indicate the flower will be a shade of purple or wine. Refer here for culture tips. http://www.aos.org/orchids/culture-sheets/paphiopedilum.aspx It blooms once a year but is attractive for its foliage all year around. It can form nice clumps with several blooms in a pot with good culture. This one is in the family of warm growing Paphs. There is no way of knowing the species or cross unless tagged.
Oh wow, thank you for the information and the link!
