Good Afternoon! I am looking for someone who would be interested in trading some of their Wafer Ash Tree seeds (Ptelea trifoliata).
I have three varieties of Milkweed seeds to trade in exchange:
Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca)
Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata)
Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa)
Our Garden is a Certified Waystation with Monarch Watch and we grow all three varieties in our Garden. In 2016 we released 315 Monarch Butterflies with 200 of those being tagged. We gave away many Monarch eggs to local teachers for their classroom as we are always ready to #HelpSaveTheMonarchs.
This year we are including Giant Swallowtail Butterflies in our efforts as each year we are seeing more and more GSwallowtails show up in our Garden to feast on the nectar of the Milkweed blooms and other flowers.
I've included photos of Giant Swallowtails visiting us in 2016, and some of our Monarch caterpillars! Enjoy!!
Thanks for your help! ~ grannyh.
Will trade Milkweed seeds for Wafer Ash seeds
Hello ,, I get those here also, not often , I am trying a couple of rue plants also I believe that is one also ,, Citrus family the Host plants
Also I have a Hops tree , Wafer Ash ,, Only no seeds yet , smaller of several I tried to grow here , Never had them in number enough to see Larvae happen ,
I hope you have a wonderful time seeing them and that you find the seeds
Sorry I don't have a Wafer Ash to trade but I would suggest Common Rue ( http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/312) as a annual for a Giant Swallowtail host. Beware of the skin/ allergic properties of this plant but it certainly is liked as a Giant Swallowtail host.
