Suggestions needed for unusual planting bed.

Holland, OH(Zone 5b)

what annual bedding plants could be used to plant a ground display that was Nemo, the clown fish? Orange, white, something close to black ( dark purple ). Can it even be done? Can include ornamental peppers or anything else like that.

I think the hardest part of this problem is the line weights, not so much coming up with orange, white and dark purple plants. You might be able to trim back an ornamental pepper like Black Pearl to make thinner strips or other dark leaf plants such as a coleus or a dark leaf alternanthera. Orange and white could be covered by impatiens, marigolds, profusion zinnias, white and orange Z. angustifolia. There are others but the ones that come to mind might not be as structured or bloom consistently. Then there are always mums in the fall.
If you figure something out, be sure to post.

You would have to use all of one species. Annuals would suit this job best.
What about California Poppies? It wouldn't last all summer or year.
What did you end up doing?
