Some of my tomatoes begin to get mushy from the center out and then begin to mold at the stem end. What might the problem be and is there a prevention? I am on a regular 3 day water soaker system
Tomato disease?
As I have had no responses to my tomato problem, I am asking again, if anyone can help with this problem.
Thanks.
I am by no means an expert so I always go to a couple of sites to look for anything that is similar. Your problem looks like some sort of mold. Is it anything like this (which looks to be a much more severe stage than yours)?

Such a great site OutsidePlaying. Thanks for link.
I wonder if it is grey mold affecting your plants. Below is a pic I found online. Also here is an article from San Francisco. Does it sound like your problem?

The problem appears to be grey mold, aka Botrytis. Plants should be watered when needed, not according to design which only encourages problems. It's the "Man proposes, G-d disposes" principal. You can control the environment only slightly. Curious as to what you choose for future solutions. I am almost always organic but in the hot, humid South have been known to resort to Daconil, with its short life, now and again.
I know a DGer had problems with Gray Mold in Oceanside. They used Daconil, as directed and it worked. It wasnt a yearly issue. Make sure you throw away the plants and fruit dont compost them.
