This season I purchased Illustris - Elephant's Ear - Colocasia esculenta from Proven Winners' website. They always have the best plants and I don't know why I'm having a problem. I can't seem to figure out what is causing the leaf curling and browning and subsequent dying. All of the other plants in the planter seem to be doing fine. I can't seem to find any info on this type of problem with elephant ears. Are they more susceptible to a bacteria or fungal infection than the other plants. Can anyone help me???
What\'s happening to my Elephant Ears?
Not enough moisture I'd suspect. I would put them in another pot and sink them into a small pond of water to ensure they stay constantly wet (during summer). This is for Colocasia only, not Alocasia that likes to dry out some between watering.
Also, could be sensitive to mineral salts. Does the pot drain? How often do you fertize? Do you have hard water?
