I took this shot today. I don't know which variety it is...tall thick stalk but not the largest flower. The 'after' bloom is still a worthwhile addition to the garden.

not at all - proper perennials, all of them, and if grown from seed, they may need several years until they reach flowering size. The most "biennial" Aspect about them is that most want to be planted in fall to flower in spring.
