Difference(s) between VS and ZFD?

(Zone 4b)

I cant keep up with the newer varieties.

I see there is "Zin Fin Doll" (interesting name).

It seems to be lots like "Vanilla Strawberry".

What do you think?

I do not have them but looooove to see their pictures in ads. In the pics, I noticed that the ZFD petals seemed more tightly packed. Maybe it applies to the one add I saw so take that with a grain of salt. Fire Light would be another VS-similar shrub too. The colors in the adss are probably edited but ZFD seems a lighter shade of pink at first and darker afterwards (not quite magenta). Wish a local plant nursery had them side by side to compare. Well, maybe not. I am afraid that would make me deplete all my cash!!! :o)

I actually bought a single FL this season based on a glowing report from a gardener friend.

Keep posting on FI, including pics. The ones for sale here were standards (tree form) which I do not usually go for. I noticed in our bad summers that FI's blooms do not last long and were going from white directly to brown. It may do that because our temps were in the 100s.

Thank cant help keep hydrangea flowers looking good!

What varieties of hydrangea (if any) can be successful in full sun in the southern US?
