Now that we have a little rain I have started to demolish the termite mounds that re so rock hard during the dry season. I found a couple of references to their use as a fertiliser in some places, in neighbouring Laos for example but here nobody bothers. Anybody have experience of their use? The mud is pretty hard to grind down to a small enough size for it to be used for potting medium. Thanks

Termite mounds
I have never heard to use them as fertilizer but there must be some secret in, where these critters 'glue' the sand and wood dust together with.
Unfortunately my wife would go beserk on me if I hammer one of those mounts down. There is a saying that somebody destroys them brings bad luck.
Amazing Thailand, when my wooden shed falls apart after they went through it, I would call this bad luck.
Try the rough ground mounts with loam and sand, should be perfect for cactus.
plants.
