Not sure if this is a bird or a bug????

Lake Chapala, Mexico

Anyone know what this is? It is what I would thing a baby hummingbird would look like...it does have a 'beak' and rapid wing movement...but it has antannae and 6 legs! No stinger..and has what looks like tail feathers! I am in Jalisco Mexico and whatever this is ...it is prolific right now!

That is a moth.
It is related to the one that starts out as a tobacco/tomato worm and turns into a Sphynx moth. Someone over at the Insect ID forum could tell you exactly which one it is - the "tail feathers" and white band around its abdomen are pretty distinctive.

PS - sometimes they are called "Hummingbird" moths, for obvious reasons - but it is still a moth.

It's called a Hummingbird Moth or Common Clearwing (Hemaris thysbe). They are very distinctive and fun to watch.

We have them also. The maroonish ones with the olive back are Hummingbird Clearwing moths. The Gold+black ones are Snowberry clearwing moths
