There are few if any clematis that has such a bright red flower like "Rebecca".
I tried it once and it never thrived and eventually died out.
I would love to hear some success stories with this particular variety as I am considering giving it another go.

Anyone have a vigorous \"Rebecca\"?
I have Ernest Markham. I'm surprised how "red" it is. It's a blue-red, but red. Maybe, I should say Hot pink, but mine is really redder than hot pink.
I recently bought Cardinal Wyzinski. It looks pretty red from pictures. I just purchased it this year, so no blooms.
Thanks 'birder' for the post. I forgot to mention that the red flowered clematis I will purchase will be placed under an obelisk and so it would be best that it be somewhat compact ie 6 feet or less. I believe "Rebecca" is such a clematis whereas EM and CW are more vigorous climbers?
Hi I have none of these, but "red" Clematis suitable for containers, according to my old book, include:
Allanah
Cardinal Wyszynski
Madame Edouard Andre
Niobe
Rouge cardinal
C. viticella Madame Julia Correvon
Perhaps you should look at Rouge Cardinal, just for the name!
My Mme Julia is very tall
