CLOSED: Black Bird help!

I while ago (around winter time) I kept seeing these black birds. They were flying in flocks of hundreds, often with some Eastern Starlings. I have no clue what this bird is. It was definitely big, like forearm length. ( I live in Southern NJ)

Thank you.

This black bird is a Common Grackle. They're common throughout North America. If you go down south, you'll see Great-tailed. If you go down around Louisiana, you'll see Boat-tailed.

Don't common grackles have blue on their heads?
These birds didn't.

Yes, they do, but the light has to hit them just right, otherwise they can look overall black/brown. Also, we have some grackles we assumed hatched last year that are still very dull.

And yes, their radiant colors aren't noticeable unless viewed closer up. They're quite fierce looking birds, and fun to photograph. I don't, however, appreciate the amount of bird food they consume.
