Jefferson\'s Salamander? (ID)
It looks like the photos online but there are a couple other possibilities:

I have never seen one that small - here in Colorado, our Salamanders are still tadpoles at that size!
It was indeed very tiny and there are other possibilities. I'm not sure how many people are experts on salamander IDing. :)

Did you try your local conservation people to get a definite ID?
No, I have moved on a bit in interest. I don't know anyone to ask for salamander IDs.
Yet, salamanders, referred to by scientists as 'indicator species', play a fundamental role in the good functioning of ecosystems. As they are very sensitive to environmental change and pollution, salamanders, and their habitat, need to be protected for the species and their ecosystem to survive.
