Friendly or not?

Eyes appear round but head a bit triangular. Is he poisonous or not?
Found him in woody grasses here at home on Delmarva Penninsula.

I am not overly familiar with snakes but this looks a lot like a garter snake, possibly the Eastern (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis), which is not harmful to humans. The ones around our home have some red stripes, instead of the yellow of these.
