Hello everyone. I live in southern wisconsin, zone 5b. I want to plant a japanese maple in my back yard. It will get full sun as there are no other trees nearby. Along with exposure to the elements. What would be recommended? Prefer the red foliage with the broader leaves, not laceleaf. Thank you

Rather than tell you my preferences, below is a link to a great site with hundreds of JM's for sale with descriptive pictures. Not only that, he has an article on "How to Choose a Japanese Maple" and a selection page (he calls it an application) where you enter the characteristics you like and it spits out several possibilities for you to check out.
