Hello, can anyone tell me why my peppers are getting these lines in them? It is only on certain plants. My bells are getting it, but not my Marconis
Pepper problem
People call them "stretch marks" or tan striations, but pepper growers know the characteristic as corking or corkiness. The lines can happen on green or red peppers, but often appear as certain pepper varieties mature and begin to turn red. Corkiness is a genetic factor tied to specific pepper varieties.
It's the equivalent of a scab when the peppers grow faster than their skin can stretch. It's normal for several varieties, and doesn't impact the taste of the pepper.
