Help Identifying Shrub

Huntsville, AL

This shrub started coming up in my garden, but I don't know what it is. I thought I planted a kalmia latifolia nearby, but this seems not to be that. Any help appreciated.

Looks like, Aesculus parviflora, commonly called bottlebrush buckeye. It likes the shade, but it can get very large, 8-12 feet high, and 8-15 feet wide.

It looks just like my Bottlebrush Buckeye. A very nice plant, IMHO.

Thanks!

I have one of those, I specifically requested it from a generous DG'er from PA. I'd keep it!

I agree on id

Thank you very much - this is very helpful. If it's a bottlebrush buckeye, I will have to move it when it is dormant as it's right between two fringe trees. I usually expect volunteers to be something I never wanted, so I am very excited. j

That's good to hear Jdl!
