Mango tree becoming thinner every year.

Goa, India

Hi,
We have a 12 year old mango tree in our garden and it gives a bumper produce every alternate year. Every other alternate year it gives a small produce. In the past 3 years however, the tree has become thinner and more brittle. There are many colonies of weaver ants on my tree leaves. I used to think they are causing the damage since no other visible pests seem to be there on the tree. But after having read the benefits of weaver ants, I am now puzzled. Is there such a thing as too many ant colonies on one tree? or is my tree becoming sick due to other reasons? The leaves are a bit droopy but they are green and the bark is not black or rotten. What else am I missing?
