Just finished doing a few on-line plant purchases (I figure that the sooner I order the sooner spring like weather will arrive ;)):

What perennials do you plan to early order on-line or alternatively purchase in person a little bit later come May/June?

Rouge,
What is your secret to growing phlox from bare root. I have had NO luck last year, despite buying from more than one supplier!

valal., I have little experience with bare root planting of perennials :(. In fact the only occasion was a few years ago for several "Havana Blue" geraniums. At that time I initially planted them in pots to get them going. It did work...mostly. (Do others have success planting them directly in the ground?)

Thanks for the links obliqua . I do enjoy reading about other gardeners choices!

I potted most of my phlox up, as I bought/received mailorder them too early to go in the ground. VERY dissappointing results. You obviously have a greener thumb than I, Rouge!

Bluestone Perennials is having their 1/2 off 50 varieties every Friday in Feb, and I have been ordering some "goodies" there. I am trying to avoid much plant purchasing this spring til I see how my WSing etc goes and how everything comes up the spring, as I put in alot last year :o) But we all know how THAT goes - LOL

Not a all valal.

There are so many often uncontrollable variables that make or break the survival of a plant. I have killed more than my share of perennials/annuals :(.
