CLOSED: ID for this hummingbird ...??
It appears to be a male Anna's Hummingbird. I am going on the fact the iridescence appears to be red/magenta (not purple), it appears to go up on the top of his head (not just his chin), and that the rest of him seems green and white (not buffy/rusty).
I was in Southern California just recently and spoke to a veteran bird-watcher that says they nest there year round. Apparently a rainy spell triggers a flush of flowers and that triggers nesting.

Pollengarden, thanks for the information ... I think you're right! We're having a bit of a rainy spell, so ... they may be nesting! How nice!
