CLOSED: Back Bay Ducks

While at the bird festival at the Morro back bay, I saw a bird that spent a lot of time "snorkeling", then coming up every so often. ID please?

It's a winter-plumaged Loon, but I will not go further than that, since they all look the same to me.

My profile is a Common Loon, but that's only because I was birding with the experts that day. :)

Thanks so much for this info. This outing induced rampant curiosity, and a renewal of my zeal for birding.
