CLOSED: California Birds

Aurora, CO(Zone 4a)

Having only done bird watching locally (Sand Creek/Aurora), I traveled to California's Central coast, and was enchanted by seeing so many of my favorite wetlands birds. I spotted what certainly appears to be a Grebe, and am requesting confirmation. This is a bird that thrilled me when I followed a pair (just once) at Sand Creek. And, in this last poorly focused photo, I wonder if this bird out at sea could be a Grebe?

Yep; a Western Grebe in the first four pics to be exact.

Last pic looks like it might be a couple of Horned Grebes, but the pic quality isn't good enough to confirm for definite!

Thanks for that. I always get a thrill when I spot a Grebe, but I guess they're not such an unusual site in that fantasy bird carnival I visited on Christmas day. "My" Grebe that I photographed several years ago was a Western as well. Enchanting birds.
