This hawk has been buzzing my neighbor's bird feeders. It perches in the trees near the feeders. Haven't seen her (I think, because it is big) grab a snack yet, but it has likely happened. I only got one photo because it moves around a lot when I'm out there, but it does stay in the area - doesn't want to leave its good hunting spot.
I think based on this location/time of year that this is a Cooper's, but the photo and angle is pretty bad. I can't see very much of the bird. Is it enough for ID?

CLOSED: Hawk ID
Looking at the rounded tail, I am leaning toward a Cooper's too. I am glad the Cooper's only visit rarely here. The last time I saw one was when our chickens were still fairly young, but it never got one, thankfully.
Thanks, Chilly. Yes, I'm glad they are not here year-round. I know they have to eat too, but I hate to see it.
Yep, Cooper's

Thanks, Resin!
