In late October 2015 from southeast PA, the photos are: Tall Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa elata) in orange color; Summersweet Pepperbush (Clethra alnifolia) in yellow color; Dwarf Witch-Alder (Fothergilla gardeni) in red fall color, Common Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) in yellow; and Common Witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana) in yellow.
Autumn color of some native shrubs
a beautiful array
Yes very nice. My Lindera benzoin have lost all their leaves already. My Calycanthus floridus is taking over the yellow show in that garden now though.
Wahoo, that's a lot of nice fall color!
I'm gazing across at a small Cornus florida (red/maroon) and it's buddy, an even smaller Calycanthus floridus (bright yellow)..how nice they will look in years to come. Fall is fabulous!
Eastern Wahoo is a cool native shrub. I have only seen one big one at Jenkins Arboretum in se PA.
