My 1 quart Monarda (bee balm) of 2011 is now about 3 ft long by 1 ft wide at the base, is it the right time of year to divide? Should I pot or just plant some in a new spot?
Dividing Monarda - is it time?
What kind of monarda is it?
the kind from Mike's garden center up at Crowley Rd and I 20? I bought it in 2011 and I have no idea, but it has kind of fuschia blooms and is about 3 feet tall at its top height, and it has overwintered without any special care, so it is hardy. I didn't know there was more than one kind, i don't think it had a pot tag for me to keep
Gypsi, if and when you divide it, save a little start for me, please. The one I had was another victim of a squirrel attack!
those darn squirrels, between them and the rats (had a rat in the chicken run tonight and 4 dogs trying to tear the run down to get to it.)
I will pot some up for you when I do. It has gotten rather large but by year end I need the bookkeeping straightened out and with my truck back I've been on the road this week,
No hurry. I can wait until next summer. Can't dig in the mud anyway.
