Cultivation of Tropaeolum tuberosum

I planted a tuber of T. tuberosum 'Ken Aslet' this spring. It has grown but was a bit neglected, and did not flower. Leaves look very healthy.
I am trying to decide just what to do next. It is reportedly hardy in the Seattle area, so I can just leave it in the ground, but I would also like to maybe save a few tubers in the garage as insurance, and maybe even trade if it had made a lot. I might try eating one too.
My fallback plan is to dig around it after the first frost, at the time I am going to bring in my Dahlia tuber, and try to detach a few tubers, then cover up the rest. I would save them in barely moist commercial potting soil in a bag in the cool garage (typically in the 40s there all winter).
Any different advice?
