I have a few new african violets that came with their own colony of mealy bug, and now I've got them everywhere.
Any ideas other than end-all or Safer's? I was thinking about watering with diazanon to get to the roots? Good idea, or not?
Any help would be appreciated.

mealy bug on african violets
No, diazanon STINKS and will smell bad for a long time. It's not safe to use in your house either. Easy way to kill mealy bugs...dip a q-tip in alcohol (the pure rubbing alcohol) and touch the q-tip to the mealy bugs. Kills them dead. I pour the alcohol into a little shot glass to make it easier to dip the q-tip in and not contaminate the whole bottle. Just throw the left overs away. You may have to do this twice, one week apart to get rid of them. Also check in the soil around the roots, sometimes the bugs go there too.
