The Essence of The Plumeria

The subject to everyone...
During my military service I visited Micronesia and Hawaii and fell in love with the perfume of the plumerias. Specifically Plumerias obtusa. I made sure I had all information on the plant to make it part of my garden after retirement. Today I'm retired in Florida I have Plumeria obtusa but their smell is nothing like I remember. So, I guess the question is, What does it take to have the complete essence?
