Unknown hoseplant starting to die on me!

zagreb, Croatia

Hi gardeners

im not a gardener and am in need of some assistance. i have this potted plant in my appartment (pic provided). Its the only one and im quite fond of it. I have no idea what kinda a plant it is, looks a bit palmy. I grew quite fond of it since i have had it for two years now. recently i replanted it to a larger pot and changed the location to a somewhat more sunbathed spot. since then it started to look a bit droopy with leaves turning yellow and falling off. i watered it when soil started to look dry. now i moved it to a shadier place but would be very grateful for any insight on hot to take care of it properly.

Thanks a bunch

Ivan

Hi Ivans,
Looks like dracaena - check out culture for dracaena.
Good luck,

Ivans--
That IS a Dracena Marginata. A very, very common plant.

It probably did not need transplanting, as the single stem has a small
root system. Also--these do not need watering too often. Too much moisture
and the roots can start rotting. Once every 10 days would be OK.
keep the soil uniformly moist, but not soggy.

From your picture, the leaves still look healthy and green.
Did you, by any chance, plant the stem deeper than it was in the old pot?
This is a common mistake, as the plant HAS TO BE kept at the same level
as it was before. Putting extra soil on top of it will, eventually, kill the plant.
Could you scrape away some of the soil on the top and see where the
original level was? You can tell--as the surface will be harder.

IF it is buried too deep--please remove the plant and re-pot it at the correct level.
If it is at the correct level--it may just be wilting a bit from you transplanting it.

These come in green (as yours) and also variegated.
Easy plant to have--IF you do not water it too much.

Good luck! Gita
