Confederate Rose

Richland, WA(Zone 7b)

I have sprouted 4 Confederate Rose babies from seeds I got on ebay. They are really pretty and healthy. Can someone give my advice on how to keep them through the winter here in WA? I had them in Florida and loved them. I realize they will probably need to be kept in containers and protected in winter. Since I have 4 I think I will put one in the ground in a protected area and mulch heavily just to see what happens. I will appreciate any help. Thanks, Jo

Jo, I think Confederate Rose (Hibiscus mutabilis) is good to go in Z7b, just plant them in a protected spot...perhaps keep one back and take into a garage for the winter. I was wanting to zone push with this one.

Thanks, mipii-- they are looking really strong.

You're welcome, happy growing!
