What is largest African Violet pot you can use?

Canton, IL(Zone 5b)

I have all my plants in 4 inch pots, but there are a couple plants that are very very large and look like the pot could fall over any minute. The leaves and stems stick out about 6 inches beyond the pot (all the way around).

Should I go up to a six inch pot? Would that be ok, or do you have to keep them in 4 inch pots no matter how big they get?

Thanks for any help.

If the plant is 18" across of larger, I'd put them in the bigger pot.

Thank you.

Rule of thumb: the container is 1/3 the width of the matured leaf span. So if leaf span is 12" the container would be 4 inches.

You can consider (1) potting up to a larger pot or (2) simply leaving in present container but setting it in an empty 6 inch container to help support the leaves
