for the last few days, the Bumblebees are behaving rather bizarre - some of them are so greedy and aggressive that they bite side openings in funnel-shaped flowers - mostly Mirabilis Jalappa and Digitalis Lutea - to drink nectar. Others sit like paralyzed on normally high-yield food plants like Liatris, Buddleya or Berkheya. They somewhat seem to be too starved to eat.
Has anyone seen that before? Anything one could do to cure them from the destructive behavior? We had a few extremely hot and dry weeks for this area (as in 40 °C) , but have now had a little rain and two or three rather cold nights (for the season), down to 9°C. No Idea if the weather plays a part in this.

Mating behavior does the aggressive thing. Our bumbles are so cool they fall asleep on the flowers til next day warms up. Stay as clear of them as you can til it gets too cold for them.
