Powdered Eggs

Peachtree City, GA(Zone 8a)

How many of you dehydrate your eggs? I know the FDA does not advise it. With eggs doubling in price within one week, because of the bird flu, I decided to try it. They say they will go up even higher if the flu hits the east coast, which is the highest producers of eggs. I found a few youtube videos.

I posted this on the Canning forum and did not get any response. I would love some feedback on this.

Interesting! However I don't have any of the needed equipment, so I'll hope my hens stay healthy and keep providing fresh eggs.

They advise that homeowners with their own chickens take precautions to prevent their them from getting the virus. I wish my city would allow us to have chickens because I would have some in the backyard.

I used to freeze my eggs. Never thought of dehydrating them. I miss having chickens. Since eggs have gone so high I have been toying with the idea of getting four to six hens and keeping them in a chicken tractor.

Pretty soon it will be very costly to buy chickens for your yard.

That is true. They are plentiful here right now but I am sure that could change.
