New house construction next door to me, with a basement/wine cellar (yes in Houston) dug a hole so close to my portico (2 feet) that it started sinking with all the deluge of rain last month. One of the pillars began failing so much the builders had to prop up the portico. Builders are good to work with and are taking care of me, and had the city come out and inspect it.
