Rooguchi

Kansasville, WI(Zone 5a)

I have been growing Rooguchi for the last 4 years. When it would reach the end of the trellis it would fall over and then it would get powdery mildew. In fall I cut it down to the ground and removed all the vines to the brush pile.
In spring I put in a new trellis so the plant would not run out of room. Well it still ended up with powdery mildew.
It looks awful. The plant is in a protected area, but there is a lot of air movement. Is this something that
Rooguchi is susceptible to? Is there something to use one it?

Picture is before powdery mildew.
