Specifically can I just spread them in ground to expand my patch? I don't want to sow in pots and then transplant. I tried sowing in ground before w/o much germination (that I could see). Maybe I did it wrong. That's why wanting to hear about your experience sowing directly inground

i just scatter them on the ground and sprinkle a little soil over them. if you have them in a mulched area, after you scatter them, take a garden claw and give the mulch a few shakes for them to drop down.
