Tree and Fruit Question

New Bern, NC(Zone 8a)

My daughter lives in a rental house in Maryland (I know this is the Carolina Forum), and she has a beautiful tree, about 15+ feet high and 10 feet+ wide. It bloomed profusely in the spring, and now has small berries on it. She asked me what it was, and the closest I can come is a serviceberry, but googling the blooms don't look quite right. Does anyone know what this is and if the fruit is edible?

Thanks in advance,
Entlie

I used to live on Maryland's Eastern Shore and we called that the Shadblow Serviceberry. When it bloomed the shad were running in the rivers and shad roe would be on the menus.

This site says the berries are edible.
