Hi from our nation's capital! We are up here this weekend to visit our daughter, see WWII airplanes fly over the National Mall (they were great, btw} and go to see the gardens at the British Embassy. On the way, there are many gardens to see in great bloom in my daughter's neighborhood. many azaleas are at peak, and there is a man who lives nearby we call the "Iris Guy" because his front lawn has hundreds of tall bearded iris which are in full bloom right now. We also saw the butterfly garden that runs alongside the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. It is a block long and runs between Madison Avenue on the Mall side to Constitution Ave. There is a little guidbook that you can get with directions to all the small gardens at the Smithsonian. they have a bird habitat display garden around the front of the building. It's worth a trip to see. we had a great time.
