Spring Plant Swap 2015 Food PotLuck Discussion
I'll bring chips, pretzels, and the like. I'll also bring a dessert of some sort. Hopefully I can convince Darcy to make my new favorite: Hello Dolly bars.
I will bring Chinese dumplings.
And your sauce I hope. :-)
Sauce will definitely go with them. I did forget the sauce once, didn't I? :o)
Shocker, I know...but is there a need for sodas?
Chantell, sodas would be great! I'm sure there will be plenty of takers.
I'll bring home brew...
..ed unsweetened ice tea, two gallons. Or sweet? I think one gallon ran out last time, I was sorry.
and something else...my usual crispy slaw?
Sally, I don't know which kind of tea you brought last year - sweet or not - but people obviously liked it so bring it again!
Definitely bring your special slaw too.
I will wait a bit and see what is missing--and maybe i could make
something to fill that void. G.
Darcy said she'll make the Hello Dolly bars....and they'll be gluten free for anyone who needs such diet.
I have no idea what Hello Dolly bars are, but I'm looking forward to finding out!
Aka magic cookie bars/ layered bars. A fave!!!
Yeah they're pretty simple. As I understand them they are layered as such from bottom to top:
crushed graham cracker
nestle choco morsels
sweetened condensed milk
coconut
Basically little slices of utopia.
I'll get Ric to make a Greek Pasta Salad.
yes J-man, on a sea of melted butter to start with...and I add (used recipe calling for) walnuts
Fruits nuts dairy whole grain, basically health food......
=8 ^D
Thanks Holly! I love any kind of Greek salad.
Those Hello Dolly bars sound decadent ; - )
Lol...J-man
I will bring some kind of brownies, of course, and something to be determined later.
Catbird's brownies are so yummy
I will bring are my yummy Garlic-Dill home-made pickles.
This seems to be an expected donation by now....:o)
Seems we are short on main dishes... SO---I will bring my Potato Salad too.
What's a picnic without Potato Salad?
Gita
Thanks, Catbird and Gita!
Gita, I'm listing all food items that aren't desserts and don't go on the grill as sides because I find it easier that way.
I'll bring deviled eggs.
Checking to see what we might be missing...
It looks like we don't have enough desserts. I'll bring something sweet, or a fruit salad.
Muddy, do you need ice?
I'll bring a dessert as well. Not sure what it will be yet.
Aspen, ssg and ecnalg - thanks!
ssg, I had forgotten about ice... I probably would have remembered it hours before people arrived ; - ) Yes, ice would be great.
Ice, ice baby!
Never heard of it, but I just knew it had to be a song title.... I wouldn't have pegged you for a rap fan, greenthumb!
I'm not, not at all, but I have had regular exposure to TV and radio most of my life. See what you miss spending time in Belgium eating chocolate. ;-)
LOL greenthumb!!!
Put me down for Baked Beans, please. Thank you.
we always have such a nice meal!
Greenthumb, you're right! I was overseas when that song came out and it probably had dropped off the charts by the time I returned....and I don't think I missed anything ; - )
Thanks, CAM!

I was thinking olive pasta salad (with mozzarella bites), but Joyanna says cupcakes with chocolate chip and banana. Sequoia, if you like olives, I'll do a side-serving with just the add-ins (peppers, cukes, mozzarella) and no pasta.
If we have some olive lovers, I'll bring some Jalepeno stuffed olives. Yummmmmm.
I love olives!
Critter, are you planning to bring the pasta salad and the cupcakes, or just the salad (not that salad is not enough!)? In other words, did Joyanna convince you to bring cupcakes?

One host who loves olives is as good as a dozen others who do. Olives now on my list of things to bring. :)
Yum; thanks CAM!
This is turning out to be a feast!
My pleasure... least I can do for the host and for everyone who is bringing plants for me. Really looking forward to putting faces to these names.
Hmmmm---
Does someone want to be the official photographer and take pictures
of everyone at the swap? I think that would be nice.....Didn't someone do it at Jan's?
Years ago--it was customary for everyone to post one's picture people could see
if they clicked on your name.
There is (was) also a members list with photos of people. Of course--this was
voluntary. You did NOT have to have a picture. I kind of like putting a face with a name.
Mine is still there if you click on my name--but it is from 2009 I think...
I do not seem to change over the years--or--so everyone tells me when they see me--
and it has been--like 10 years since. Makes me feel good....like I am ageless....HA!!
