As soon as I put broccoli and lettuce in the ground something eats it, pretty sure it is the neighborhood rabbit. I have been lurking here since July, so I decided to seed a greens mixture on top of 5 bales of wheat straw. I then realized there was no room for broccoli and its relatives so I put them inside a box made from 10 bales, I will probably put cabbage on top of these, then a summer crop of another plant after the cabbages are done. Sure hope this works, but if it doesn't, I still have the straw for my sheet mulched main garden.
Do you think this will deter rabbits?
Yes, I think it will help. Here, in a drought year when they are hungry, nothing is completely rabbit proof.
