Eastern Kingbird (Tyrannus tyrannus)
This is my "never say never" bird. A birding website, in its description of this bird, says it never drinks water because they get moisture from the insects they eat. After contacting them, they changed "never" to "rarely seen". :)
Sellers of bird baths and others say you can get non-feeder birds coming to the baths. In our experience, this Eastern Kingbird is the only non-feeder bird that has come to the bath. But we are blessed with birds coming into our feeding area that are not typical feeder birds, at least for Iowa, such as Western Meadowlarks, and Dickcissels.
Nice to be able to prove the published experts wrong!
