veronica

which ones do you like or have had good success with? I am thinking of starting some from seed.

I have clay, and don't water a lot in summer. Most Veronicas just don't survive for me, or bloom for long, or look really ratty after bloom. In fact the only one that seems tough here is V. 'Georgia Blue', a 2" tall creeper, that survives in dry shade, also under a shrub in a pot in the sun. It doesn't bloom much, but survives and slowly spreads. Useful rather than pretty. I notice that the Great Plant Picks program lists this as the only Veronica they recommend around here, I am sure they have looked at more varieties than me. I suspect if you have sandier soil and water more regularly than me you would have more success. It is also possible that they just need more heat in the summer.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I have grown 'Georgia Blue' for years. It is very carefree and performs well in my yard.
