Daylily with new plants on flower stem

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7b)

I am gardening in Panama. I have a daylily that is very large. It forms new plants on the FLOWER stem, complete with roots. I have never seen that on a daylily before (have seen it on some irises).
Is that normal? Is this a tetraploid gone mad, too close to the tropical sun? Ha ha.

FYI, no named plant varieties here or even 'garden centers'. Haven't seen any commercial propagation of ornamental plants in Panama. Just whatever you can get you hands on. Found this one up in the woods on the edge of the jungle.

I have been breaking off the new plants and potting them up while the roots grow larger. See new plant forming on the stem in the lower right corner of the photo.

Very common in Daylilies. Called proliferation.

Thanks. I have been gardening for 40 years and have never seen that. Guess I needed to move to a warm climate!
