Article: Rainbow cat collars may save birds

PERTH, Australia

My view is that domestic cats have no place roaming free in any environment, where they freely prey on birds, lizards, frogs, small mammals & marsupials. Keeping cats inside or safely contained within outside cat runs not only helps wildlife, but also keeps cats safe from road traffic and attacks by dogs and even by humans. Influencing a mind shift is an uphill battle, with some arguing that the cat is only following its instincts, or that their cat never catches birds.

Nevertheless, cats do and will continue to range freely and here's a link to an article in Science Network Western Australia that may help reduce the carnage.

Thanks, Kim. Anything which may reduce the impact cats have on native fauna has to be worth a try.

interesting. looks like it's all about the color and doesn't have anything like bells on it.

I wonder if such collars are available in the US?
