Listed rare in Maryland
A friend at work was in a local park and this climbing fern was pointed out by another park visitor. Check out these unusual leaves. I'll be keeping my eye out, we go often to a piece of park not too far from that.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Very interesting vine. I see it's native in my state as well. I'll have to be on the lookout for it. It seems so many invasives have crowded out other things.

Those leaves are really distinctive and very attractive. Thanks for the link!

I was just reading through some old WPA-era literature about Lexington, KY. The campus arboretum at the University of Kentucky in 1938 housed a variety of native KY species - including the Climbing Fern.

Does anyone know of a place to buy this fern besides http://www.tripplebrookfarm.com/newweb/gen/genusindex/LygodiumL.shtml

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

I don't know how current this is, but this indicates that Lazy S's Farm sells it: http://davesgarden.com/products/ps/go/62409/

Thanks. I don't see it in their current online catalog.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

The fern Plant Delights is selling is the Japanese species, not the same plant.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

They tricked me ; - ) I entered Lygodium palmatum in Plant Delights' search box, and that Japanese plant popped up.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

:-) Well, I'm not going to pay that price at Triple Brook, especially since it's native to TN. Maybe I'll come across it growing wild around here somewhere.
