planting crinums in the ground in Central Texas now

Kyle, TX

I ordered and will soon receive some crinum bulbs and figured I'b be planting them right away. Everything I'm reading, however, says to plant crinums in the spring. I will wait til I get the bulbs to see what the planting instructions say but meanwhile, does anything think it's okay to plant crinums in Central Texas now? If not, should I put them in pots and then plant in the ground in the spring? We're zone 8b.

Interesting user name. All three ways work. I normally plant up to neck and then mulch well. If we get a really bad freeze in February, cover with a blanket.
I grow quite a few crinums, both bloom type and most colors. Attached is Brides Bouquet

Thanks so much for the information! I am looking forward to my crinum blooming and will definitely post photos when it does form flowers. Hardiness zone maps have always put our area as 8b, which made sense as we're just 20 minutes south of Austin. The cold I can handle, it's the heat and humidity that's such a challenge!
