November 25th, 2014: Iron Cross Begonia (Begonia masoniana) by growin

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

The Bloom of the Day for November 25th, 2014 was Iron Cross Begonia (Begonia masoniana).

View the bloom of the day here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/botd.php?date=2014-11-25

Why do they call foliage the bloom of the day. Rhetorical question so no sense in answering it.

They should have a random foliage plant of the day or at least name this the random bloom or foliage of the day.

Maybe in reference: http://davesgarden.com/guides/terms/go/96.html
Bloom:
1. A showy floral display put on by a plant in hopes of wooing a pollinator to it.
2. A waxy, white or bluish white coating on a stem, leaf, or fruit.

Yet it isn't

#1 - Floral

and probably stretching

#2 as I don't see Iron Cross begonia as being waxy

I was actually just joking. You have a point.
