new iPad........need help

I just bought an iPad4 today...........they were on rollback pricing at WM for $299.00 for the 16G Wi-Fi. I foolishly thought I could bring it home, plug it into the computer, and everything that I have on my old iPad would transfer to the new one. Well, all that transferred were my iTunes music. No apps, no Kindle, no games, no anything else I have apps for.

I imagine there is something I am not doing right (or at all) and that it HAS to be a really quick, easy fix. Please help. If I can't get stuff moved over, I might as well take it back. :>(
