end of 2014 amorph season konjacs

Provo, UT(Zone 5a)

wow..its almost oct..what happened??? :)
ive been unpotting a few of my konjac ..only the smaller
potted up ones.. it may have been a lousy summer for the
"tropical" amorphs.. but if the rest of my konjac are like the ones
ive unpotted so far..it was a good yr for them..
the small "fingerlings" offsets konjac i potted up last april/may have done
really well.. ones ive unpotted so far are 3+ inches wide..thats some pretty good
tuber growth!! yea!! :)
hows everyone elses done this summer???
im anxious to see how the really big ones did..
all except 1 put up multiple petioles..so im not sure if ive got multiple
tubers in the pots..or hopefully..a really big tuber..
will be like early christmas in a couple weeks..
its to cool off here starting this weekend..but its really a very unpredictable
thing weather.. ive been monitoring noaa climate prediction. for us here in
central utah.. theyve been pretty accurate.. if they r right..were gonna have a
really mild/semi dry winter.. guess a couple months will tell...
hope to hear from u all on your summer crop of konjac..???? :)

Mine are all turning yellow. Won't be long now. As soon as they flop over I dig them up.
This summer went by quick and was VERY mild. Maybe 5-6 90 F. days total.

u had a late summer back east didnt u..or a late winter..guess depends on
how ya wanna say it..LOL :(
we r to have a nice extention of indian summer.. sure hope so..
maybe not have a frost till end of oct..
i'll have to look into my crystal ball..lol :)

Provo, UT(Zone 5a)

well..we had a short cool spell..last thurs,friday.. its a sunny.
"warmish" day today..yea!! low 70sF no frosts..yet...
so the konjac are in south facing area against the house..so more
protected than out in backyard.. and still going strong
had to water them other day..probably will again tomorrow.
anxious to see the tubers..:) would love to see a monster come from
one of the larger ones.. :)

Provo, UT(Zone 5a)

well im getting there..:) the konjac did the best this yr..
i had 1 really big konjac..put in a MONSTER pot.hoping to get one of
those 20" tubers.. sigh..:( the tuber put up multiple petioles..and the
mother tuber split.. sigh.. i did get 2 large tubers.. just hoped for a
BIGGIE !!! :) also got a couple tubers with multiple flower petioles..
so maybe next yr will get tubers with many flowers..:)
heres a few pics of this yrs.. i am about 1/3 done unpotting..

Wow Tropical, that's nuts!

Provo, UT(Zone 5a)

hey tommy!! :)
i really had hoped the biggest one stayed together..
sigh..oh well..:)
i have 2 konjac with 2 petioles..and this one with 3..
and a couple nice big ones 9" + that im hoping will put up
a big flower next spring..
?? tommy..how did yours do this yr.u had chilly weather into mid spring..
didnt u??? any affect on your amorphs??

The bigger corms didn't really grow any larger. Kind of a weak year for me here. The summer didn't get all that hot here, maybe 4 days of around 90F. Normally we get near or slightly over 100F. Think I'll start them a tad earlier next late winter to give them a bigger head start.

ya.. i am thinking same thing..potting up some i want to see if
i can get some BIG size outta.. i have spot outside next to the house..
gets full south sun..even in january its "semi warmish"..LOL
but as u were saying.. start some konjac after flowering..pot up.
put there..and see if by getting an extra couple months growing they
put on some SIZE.. nothing lost if doesnt work..:)

If any of mine start pushing up a flower stalk I'm going to cut them off this year so they put energy into the corm. I have one that blooms every year.
